The event which has in attendance the Mayor of New York Eric Adama saw the audience given Ambassador Njoku a thunderous ovation as he rounded up his speech on the needs to build a technology that could help build a healthcare

The philanthropist  who  was given an award at African Achiever 2023 organized by the Parliament of the United Kingdom. the  AWARD which came in wake of many international Award given to this highly and well vast Man confirmed his philanthropists way , given the fact that this young man has established a lot of health care solutions in Nigeria and the world. And recently he just launched the life above 100 plan which has received a lot of kudos from societies within Nigeria and beyond 

known for  his  visionary Leadership, exemplary Humility. Exceptional philanthropy and dedicated Services to Humanity, which have been acknowledged and felt beyond the boundaries of Africa.

And as he is been  globally recognized, appreciated and celebrated as a great Achiever.

 And when asked how he felt representing his country in such a  prestige ceremony , the ever jovial handsome man stated that his best is yet to come and he is still yet to do what he intends to do both for his constituency and his country as a whole

Trouble For GTBank As Court Orders Trial Of Managing Director, Others

 

Justice A. L. Akintola of the High Court of Oyo state has ordered the trial of the managing director of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), Miriam Olusanya, for blocking a customer’s account domicile in the bank’s Apata, Ibadan branch, with an order purportedly obtained from a magistrates’ court in Kano state.

The GTBank MD will be tried for contempt of court following an ex-parte motion brought by Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), lawyer to the bank’s aggrieved customer, Omolara Abosede Ogunkoya.

A copy of the order issued on September 18 was seen in Abuja on Tuesday, September 19.

Justice Akintola directed that court documents relating to the contempt proceedings be served on the bank’s MD and its Apata branch’s Manager, Ms. Funmi Olutayo.

Part of the order reads: “Furthermore, by this order, the applicant herein is hereby allowed to serve Form 48 (notice of consequences of disobedience to order of this honourable court made on the 7th day of September 2023 and Form 49 (notice to show cause why the order of attachment should not be made and other subsequence processes in these contempt proceedings on the Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank Pic, Miriam Olusanya by substituted means to wit; by pasting the said processes on the wall of, Guaranty Trust Bank Pic, Apata branch/business office, Ibadan Oyo state

According to Source, the contempt case was informed by the bank’s alleged refusal to obey the court’s orders contained in a judgment delivered on September 7 directing it to, among others, immediately lift the restriction it placed on Mrs. Ogunkoya’s account.

The bank customer had sued the bank following its alleged refusal to lift the restriction it placed on her account without allegedly offering any reason for its action

In the fundamental rights enforcement suit, marked M/696/2023, Mrs. Ogunkoya said she had operated the account without hindrance until the bank suddenly placed a lien on it earlier this year.

She added that her efforts to make the bank rethink or provide a reason for its action proved abortive, prompting her to sue.

Delivering judgment on the suit on September 7, Justice Akintola found, among others, that the bank’s action was unjustified, noting that the order on which the bank relied to act was doubtful.

The judge said: “It is doubtful if the enrolled order of the Kano Chief Magistrate Court, attached as Exhibit B to the respondent’s (the bank’s) counter affidavit, is a certified true copy of such an order.

“To the extent that it purports to be a public document, but which is not certified as a true copy of the original, this court cannot take cognizance of same.

“In the end result, the basis upon which the respondent (GTBank) has placed the lien or embargo on the applicant’s account maintained with the respondent is of doubtful validity, and same cannot be recognized or given any effect to by this court

ROWLAND OKORIE MOURNS WITH CHIEF/DR/MRS.SINACHI UGWUONYE-OKECHUKWU

 In an interview with nairaland, the US based Project NWAFOR Igbo pioneer shared how he felt about the news of the death of the 75 years old matriarch of the Ugwuonye family. “Dr SinaChi Ugwuonye-Okechukwu, a woman with the heart of Gold, is one of the most powerful women I have met in my life.

She is the Founder and CEO of the Sinachi Foundation; the First elected female National President of Enugu USA, and a Global Leader in partnership recruitment of Project NWAFOR Igbo.” He added that “I would have faced greater struggles and challenges in America if the Almighty God did not send people like her across to me. I spent my first Thanksgiving and Christmas in the US with her family and friends in Orange Hills, California… a beautiful suburb and one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Through her I was able to link up. She handed me over to Sir Bob Agbonye, an Mbaise Icon, whose influence is none to compare with . My story continued until I ended up with a household name in my community- the Onyejiji's and which became home away from home, the rest is history as they say. “ Ebemma was a strong woman, a mother of seven children, … six boys and one girl. She lived a good and courageous life even with its challenges.

Dr. Ife SinaChi Ugwuonye-Okechukwu filed for and brought her mother, Mrs. Cecilia Ugwuonye (Ebemma) to the USA, where she lived with her for several years, and gave her the best possible life. Some of Ebemma’s last acts of kindness was hosting the SinaChi Foundation’s annual giveaway to the less fortunate of the wonderful people of Umumba Ndiuno few months ago.

According to Dr Ife SinaChi, the duo of her mother, Mrs. Cecilia Ugwuonye and her mother in-law, Lolo Schola Okechukwu, joined hands in hosting that last event which was a beautiful outing! Speaking on her mother’s death she said, “as we grieve her passing, we remember fondly her contributions to our earthly space. Ebemma, you will be fondly remembered. Journey well onyeoma.”

INFORMATION MINISTER VISITS FIRST LADY

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi says information regarding activities and intervention programmes  by the Renewed Hope Initiative will enjoy wider coverage, henceforth.

This is in order to capture more women and other vulnerable groups targeted by the initiative across the country.

The Minister stated this during a courtesy call on Nigeria's First Lady and National Chairman of Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, at the Villa.

Applauding recent interventions by the Initiative, the Minister says the Renewed Hope Initiative,RHI programmes effectively complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, and as such deserves to be supported.

"We all know that her role is largely to support Mr President in the execution of his policies, but she also has her own Initiative.We discussed about that and how the Ministry of Information and National Orientation can help in disseminating that to the Nigerian public".

This is the first official visit of the minister to the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON.

GTCO Plc Releases 2023 Half Year Audited Results

Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (“GTCO” or the “Group”) has released its Audited Consolidated and Separate Financial Statements for the period ended June 30, 2023, to the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) and London Stock Exchange (LSE).

 

The Group reported profit before tax of ₦327.4billion, representing an increase of 217.1% over ₦103.2billion recorded in the corresponding period ended June 2022. The Group’s loan book (net) increased by 22.8% from ₦1.89trillion recorded as at December 2022 to ₦2.32trillion in June 2023, while deposit liabilities grew by 37.0% from ₦4.61trillion in December 2022 to ₦6.32trillion in June 2023. 

 

The Group’s balance sheet remained well structured and resilient with total assets and shareholders’ funds closing at ₦8.5trillion and ₦1.2 trillion, respectively. Full Impact Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) remained very strong, closing at 24.7%, while asset quality was sustained as IFRS 9 Stage 3 Loans improved to 4.6% in June 2023 from 5.2% December 2022, however, Cost of Risk (COR) closed at 3.7% from 0.6% in December 2022 owing to worsening macros which caused significant increase in ECL variables.

Commenting on the results, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, Mr. Segun Agbaje, said; “Our half year audited results reflect the strong business fundamentals underpinning the GTCO franchise, the quality of our past decisions in future proofing our balance sheet for challenging times, and the sound practices that guide our day-to-day operations. Despite the challenges in the business environment, notably inflationary pressures and exchange rate fluctuations, we are starting to see the gains in the transformation of our businesses following our transition to a Holding Company structure. Improved profitability and a solid performance across key metrics reflect efficiencies and justify the investments we continue to make in technology, product development, and our people.” 

He further said; “We recognise the impact prevailing economic and market conditions have on people and livelihoods and we remain committed to seeking better outcomes for our customers by ensuring that our products and service offerings support our customers and their businesses through their evolving realities, whilst also taking every opportunity to optimise stakeholder value.”

Overall, the Group continues to post one of the best metrics in the Nigerian Financial Services industry in terms of key financial ratios i.e., Pre-Tax Return on Equity (ROAE) of 61.4%, Pre-Tax Return on Assets (ROAA) of 8.8%, Full Impact Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) of 24.7% and Cost to Income ratio of 27.7%.
