The philanthropist  who  was given an award at African Achiever 2023 organized by the Parliament of the United Kingdom. the  AWARD which came in wake of many international Award given to this highly and well vast Man confirmed his philanthropists way , given the fact that this young man has established a lot of health care solutions in Nigeria and the world. And recently he just launched the life above 100 plan which has received a lot of kudos from societies within Nigeria and beyond 

known for  his  visionary Leadership, exemplary Humility. Exceptional philanthropy and dedicated Services to Humanity, which have been acknowledged and felt beyond the boundaries of Africa.

And as he is been  globally recognized, appreciated and celebrated as a great Achiever.

Trouble For GTBank As Court Orders Trial Of Managing Director, Others

 

Justice A. L. Akintola of the High Court of Oyo state has ordered the trial of the managing director of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), Miriam Olusanya, for blocking a customer’s account domicile in the bank’s Apata, Ibadan branch, with an order purportedly obtained from a magistrates’ court in Kano state.

The GTBank MD will be tried for contempt of court following an ex-parte motion brought by Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), lawyer to the bank’s aggrieved customer, Omolara Abosede Ogunkoya.

A copy of the order issued on September 18 was seen in Abuja on Tuesday, September 19.

Justice Akintola directed that court documents relating to the contempt proceedings be served on the bank’s MD and its Apata branch’s Manager, Ms. Funmi Olutayo.

Part of the order reads: “Furthermore, by this order, the applicant herein is hereby allowed to serve Form 48 (notice of consequences of disobedience to order of this honourable court made on the 7th day of September 2023 and Form 49 (notice to show cause why the order of attachment should not be made and other subsequence processes in these contempt proceedings on the Managing Director of Guaranty Trust Bank Pic, Miriam Olusanya by substituted means to wit; by pasting the said processes on the wall of, Guaranty Trust Bank Pic, Apata branch/business office, Ibadan Oyo state

According to Source, the contempt case was informed by the bank’s alleged refusal to obey the court’s orders contained in a judgment delivered on September 7 directing it to, among others, immediately lift the restriction it placed on Mrs. Ogunkoya’s account.

The bank customer had sued the bank following its alleged refusal to lift the restriction it placed on her account without allegedly offering any reason for its action

In the fundamental rights enforcement suit, marked M/696/2023, Mrs. Ogunkoya said she had operated the account without hindrance until the bank suddenly placed a lien on it earlier this year.

She added that her efforts to make the bank rethink or provide a reason for its action proved abortive, prompting her to sue.

Delivering judgment on the suit on September 7, Justice Akintola found, among others, that the bank’s action was unjustified, noting that the order on which the bank relied to act was doubtful.

The judge said: “It is doubtful if the enrolled order of the Kano Chief Magistrate Court, attached as Exhibit B to the respondent’s (the bank’s) counter affidavit, is a certified true copy of such an order.

“To the extent that it purports to be a public document, but which is not certified as a true copy of the original, this court cannot take cognizance of same.

“In the end result, the basis upon which the respondent (GTBank) has placed the lien or embargo on the applicant’s account maintained with the respondent is of doubtful validity, and same cannot be recognized or given any effect to by this court

ROWLAND OKORIE MOURNS WITH CHIEF/DR/MRS.SINACHI UGWUONYE-OKECHUKWU

CEO of Equity Concepts, Rowland Okorie, has expressed sadness over the death of Chief Dr. Sinachi  Ugwuonye-Okechukwu’s beloved mother, Mrs. Cecilia Ugwuonye, a.k.a. Ebemma, who passed onto glory on August 30, 2023 at Unumba Ndiuno, in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State.

 In an interview with nairaland, the US based Project NWAFOR Igbo pioneer shared how he felt about the news of the death of the 75 years old matriarch of the Ugwuonye family. “Dr SinaChi Ugwuonye-Okechukwu, a woman with the heart of Gold, is one of the most powerful women I have met in my life.

She is the Founder and CEO of the Sinachi Foundation; the First elected female National President of Enugu USA, and a Global Leader in partnership recruitment of Project NWAFOR Igbo.” He added that “I would have faced greater struggles and challenges in America if the Almighty God did not send people like her across to me. I spent my first Thanksgiving and Christmas in the US with her family and friends in Orange Hills, California… a beautiful suburb and one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Through her I was able to link up. She handed me over to Sir Bob Agbonye, an Mbaise Icon, whose influence is none to compare with . My story continued until I ended up with a household name in my community- the Onyejiji's and which became home away from home, the rest is history as they say. “ Ebemma was a strong woman, a mother of seven children, … six boys and one girl. She lived a good and courageous life even with its challenges.

Dr. Ife SinaChi Ugwuonye-Okechukwu filed for and brought her mother, Mrs. Cecilia Ugwuonye (Ebemma) to the USA, where she lived with her for several years, and gave her the best possible life. Some of Ebemma’s last acts of kindness was hosting the SinaChi Foundation’s annual giveaway to the less fortunate of the wonderful people of Umumba Ndiuno few months ago.

According to Dr Ife SinaChi, the duo of her mother, Mrs. Cecilia Ugwuonye and her mother in-law, Lolo Schola Okechukwu, joined hands in hosting that last event which was a beautiful outing! Speaking on her mother’s death she said, “as we grieve her passing, we remember fondly her contributions to our earthly space. Ebemma, you will be fondly remembered. Journey well onyeoma.”

INFORMATION MINISTER VISITS FIRST LADY

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi says information regarding activities and intervention programmes  by the Renewed Hope Initiative will enjoy wider coverage, henceforth.

This is in order to capture more women and other vulnerable groups targeted by the initiative across the country.

The Minister stated this during a courtesy call on Nigeria's First Lady and National Chairman of Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, at the Villa.

Applauding recent interventions by the Initiative, the Minister says the Renewed Hope Initiative,RHI programmes effectively complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, and as such deserves to be supported.

"We all know that her role is largely to support Mr President in the execution of his policies, but she also has her own Initiative.We discussed about that and how the Ministry of Information and National Orientation can help in disseminating that to the Nigerian public".

GTCO Plc Releases 2023 Half Year Audited Results

 

             

. .....Reports Profit Before Tax of ₦327.4billion

Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (“GTCO” or the “Group”) has released its Audited Consolidated and Separate Financial Statements for the period ended June 30, 2023, to the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) and London Stock Exchange (LSE).

 

The Group reported profit before tax of ₦327.4billion, representing an increase of 217.1% over ₦103.2billion recorded in the corresponding period ended June 2022. The Group’s loan book (net) increased by 22.8% from ₦1.89trillion recorded as at December 2022 to ₦2.32trillion in June 2023, while deposit liabilities grew by 37.0% from ₦4.61trillion in December 2022 to ₦6.32trillion in June 2023. 

 

The Group’s balance sheet remained well structured and resilient with total assets and shareholders’ funds closing at ₦8.5trillion and ₦1.2 trillion, respectively. Full Impact Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) remained very strong, closing at 24.7%, while asset quality was sustained as IFRS 9 Stage 3 Loans improved to 4.6% in June 2023 from 5.2% December 2022, however, Cost of Risk (COR) closed at 3.7% from 0.6% in December 2022 owing to worsening macros which caused significant increase in ECL variables.

Commenting on the results, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, Mr. Segun Agbaje, said; “Our half year audited results reflect the strong business fundamentals underpinning the GTCO franchise, the quality of our past decisions in future proofing our balance sheet for challenging times, and the sound practices that guide our day-to-day operations. Despite the challenges in the business environment, notably inflationary pressures and exchange rate fluctuations, we are starting to see the gains in the transformation of our businesses following our transition to a Holding Company structure. Improved profitability and a solid performance across key metrics reflect efficiencies and justify the investments we continue to make in technology, product development, and our people.” 

He further said; “We recognise the impact prevailing economic and market conditions have on people and livelihoods and we remain committed to seeking better outcomes for our customers by ensuring that our products and service offerings support our customers and their businesses through their evolving realities, whilst also taking every opportunity to optimise stakeholder value.”

Overall, the Group continues to post one of the best metrics in the Nigerian Financial Services industry in terms of key financial ratios i.e., Pre-Tax Return on Equity (ROAE) of 61.4%, Pre-Tax Return on Assets (ROAA) of 8.8%, Full Impact Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) of 24.7% and Cost to Income ratio of 27.7%.

Oyo Gov Approves Selection of New Soun

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun-elect of Ogbomosoland.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola said in a statement on Saturday that the announcement followed the long-drawn processes specified under the law.

“His Excellency congratulates the new Soun-elect on his ascension to the throne of his forebears,” the statement said.

The Commissioner said the exalted position has placed the monarch-elect in the position to facilitate harmony, understanding and tolerance amongst his people. 

The Commissioner also urged all sons and daughters of the ancient city of Ogbomoso to work with the monarch to consolidate the successes of his forefathers.

Opinion: What Is Stopping Chelsea FC From Obeying Primate Ayodele’s Instructions? By Charles Gregory

 

Chelsea FC has started the new premier league season on a very bad note with two defeats out of four games played. The club bought some of the most expensive players yet it doesn’t feel like the club will make any improvement this season.

Sadly, the team hasn’t even met with strong opponents so far yet losses have been recorded with the latest being the defeat by Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea has changed coaches, bought new players, changed strategy but the club remains the same, what could be the problem?  It appears the management of the club is confused about the whole situation, the team is gradually becoming a shadow of itself unfortunately.

Although every football strategy has been tried, the club and management are yet to carry out the advice given to them by Nigerian prophet, Primate Elijah Ayodele last season.

The prophet who went viral for foretelling bad times for Chelsea last season advised the club to do cleansing and seek blessings from the former owner, Roman Abrahamovic. He advised that it was necessary for the club to succeed in its dealings.

“Chelsea is finished. If they are not careful they will not function again. The people who bought Chelsea should go back to the owner and get his blessings. Otherwise, if they put 10, 20 strikers, defenders, and the best keeper in the world, there is a curse troubling Chelsea at this moment. I have told you, to take these words very very seriously if you want to progress, otherwise, Chelsea can go to total relegation. Any team that faces Chelsea now can beat them, they need spiritual cleansing for them to wake up to the challenges that are ahead of them.’’

It’s been several months but the club is yet to make any moves regarding the instruction given to them by Primate Ayodele. It appears the deliberate action to ignore this message shared by the man of God has continued to lead the club to loss.

Also, before the season began, Primate Ayodele made another prophecy stating that the club will not make any significant progress this year and will struggle between 10th and 11th position unless they put their house in order.

‘’If you are not careful, the coming season will not be too palatable as expected. I don’t know who your players are but it’s still going to be rough. The only way Chelsea can do what the fans are expecting is by putting their house in order. If not, the club will struggle between 10 and 11. Honestly, the club needs to be very prayerful’’

What does the prophet mean by putting their house in order? In my opinion, I think it’s simply an update of his last prophecy and a reminder that the club is yet to do the needful as he advised them.

Since every other thing has failed for the club, what then is stopping the club from following the instructions of Primate Ayodele, maybe this will salvage the situation on ground? As a sport enthusiast and a Chelsea fan, I would advise the club to please do as the prophet has adviced, we can’t afford to be losing every week because it’s really draining.

Project NWAFOR Igbo Shines At Mbaise Europe 2023

The city of Essen, Germany witnessed one of a kind show as Igbo elites, 'the who is who', captains of industry and men of timber and calibre in the Dispoara thronged Germany for the Mbaise Europe 4th Convention. Present at the event was Amb Wahab Adekola Akande, the Councsul General Frankfurt Germany.

 

Amongst those that graced the occasion is Rowland Okorie, Chief Executive Officer of Equity Concepts Entertainment and founder of Project NWAFOR Igbo who flew in from Las Vegas, United States of America to present Project NWAFOR Igbo to his Igbo folks.

Speaking on the event, overjoyous Okorie said; "The convention is a huge success... where would I have been if not Germany with my people?"

Okorie, used the medium to present Project NWAFOR Igbo as Igbos all over the world gather in Germany to address the way forward to their development and epitomize other countries, unveiling the blueprint and strategy on how development can come to Igbo land.

The convention was attended by Nigerian Ambassador to France; President Mbaise Europe, Hon. Kingsley Ajunwa; Vice Board Chairman, Mbaise Europe, Ezeji Vitus Madu; Chairman, Mbaise Europe Convention 2023, Chief (Dr.) Okwudiri Divine Nwandu and his beautiful wife; His Excellency, Chief Sam Daddy, PDP Governorship Candidate in Imo State, HRH Eze Leo Nwokocha Ato.

The occasion also featured the founding members and delegates from US which include; SOS Echendu KSC - President Mbaise USA;  Chief Charles Iwejuo - Chairman US Board of Delegates; Dr. and Mrs. Law Osondu and Chief Wilson Iwuh who was the MC of the occasion. However, project NWAFOR Igbo is set to be launched in the city of Las Vegas, United States of America (USA) with new partnership deals coming in from Chief Osuji in Holland who was also another lover of Igbo projects.

According to the convener, the date for Project NWAFOR Igbo launch will be announced  soon, Okorie stated that before the announcements of the date that they want to finalize setting up their Secretariats in Las Vegas (USA), Nigeria and Ghana.

Speaking further on the plans, Okorie stated that the organisers are working on the publicity plans which will involve adverts placement on key Nigerian television stations, radio jingles, social media influencers, including comedians while newspapers will also be engaged.

Okorie said; "We will discuss with the US Embassy for those who need to attend all over the world because they will need visas to attend. We will work it out with the department responsible for that as we still have a lot of time ahead."

"The American standard is what we need in our land. We will utilize American companies to structure our land and organize it just like we would want it to be. We will create millions of jobs across the eastern part of Nigeria."

...... As First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu restates Education as key to growth and development

The Initiative by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI, has given out the Scholarship grant to the last batch of four students who were not able to make the grand presentation to recipients from the 36 states of the Federation and other organizations.

The grant which is under the National Scholarship Programme, NASP, Tertiary Education is to the tune of N1m each, annually for the 4 years of their stay in the higher instituition with a brand new computer as well.

Representing the First lady at the presentation held at the Office of the First Lady, State House, Abuja, the Wife of the APC National Chairman and Director of Education, Renewed Hope Initiative, Prof. Hafsat Ganduje told the beneficiaries to ensure they keep their GPA very high as this would put them in a very good stead academically. 

“We know that education is key. Without education, there cannot be development and growth anywhere. Also look inwards to see how you can be of help to your family and friends”.

“Be more enterprising and look beyond just academics, so you do not have to wait for white collar jobs when you graduate”.

Responding on behalf of the Scholarship recipients, Stella Orji, a Mass Communication student of Imo State University promised that they would not only make their parents proud but Nigeria as well.

She expressed their gratitude to the First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for the Initiative which they say is indeed a huge blessing for them and their families.

Education is one of the scopes of the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI which also has Agriculture, Health, Economic Empowerment and Social Investment.

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu has participated at the 2023 Imo Women August Meeting. 

At the event which was well attended by women from all over Imo state, Senator Oluremi Tinubu lauded the efforts of women in shaping the society saying they must not relent in giving directions to younger women. 

She emphasized the need to acknowledge the accomplishments of younger women which are undoubtedly inspiring and the fact that the role the elderly women play in shaping society cannot be done away with.

“ At this years celebration which has as its theme, Women Supporting Each Other,Making Things Happen, we must take cognizance of the experiences, struggles, and triumphs of our older women, which have paved the way for the progress we enjoy today “.

“ The support we are advocating is what we have come to present today through the Renewed Hope Initiative’s RHI Social Investment Agenda by celebrating the widows at this event “.

The First Lady assured of the Federal Governments commitment to addressing the various challenges confronting the Nation noting that the aim of President Bola Tinubu is to make Nigerian a more prosperous nation that everyone would be proud to belong.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu used the opportunity of the occasion to canvass for support for Gov Hope Uzodinma’s re-election bid come November 2023. 

She says if he is re-elected, the people of Imo state are in for more transformative governance and a greater lease of life.

In his remarks at the event, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma appreciated all the Imo women with assurances of a greater deal even as he has chosen a female as his running mate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

The wife of the governor Barr Chioma Uzodinma thanked the First Lady for doing the women of Imo proud by being the Special Guest of Honor at the Annual Women August meeting. 

Senator Oluremi Tinubu went on to give support to 500 elderly women and widows with bags of rice, bags of semo, fabrics and N50,000 each.

CJPAN CSR Project As Nollywood Diva Foluke Daramola-Salako, Popular Fuji Musician Sulaimon Adio Atawewe Joins Celebrity Publishers To Clean Lagos.

 

... Entertainers Says We're Happy To Be An Ambassadors To This Laudable Project

It was an enthusiastic moment when Popular, prestigious Celebrity Journal Publishers' Association of Nigeria CJPAN rolled out her second edition of Clean Up Lagos in Corporate Social Responsibility CSR in order for the reputable Association to contribute its quota to the society and Nigeria at large the event which was held on Thursday 31st August 2023 at  Awolowo way, adjacent gigantic glass-house building besides computer village  in Lagos State Nigeria.

The cleaning exercise began around 8:30am, when all members of the Association assembled and joined by the ambassadors of the exercise, Alhaji Sulaimon Adio Atawewe together with his colleagues in the entertainment industry, who's a notable actress, Foluke Daramola-Salako commenced the cleaning  exercise at about 9:am

According to the popular musician, Atawewe who  revealed that they ( musicians) make money in public, and there is need to support the cleaning exercise as well because Government alone can't do it all. 

He however encourage other celebrities/personalities to partner with  CJPAN in this  laudable project for the subsequent event.Let the train moves on.He concluded.

In a similar development, a notable  Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola commended CJPAN for the initiative  of the clean up, Lagos State, a quarterly CSR exercise. She was very happy to be part of this memorable event/ project.It was an initiative that is centered on general environmental sanitation exercise for stable of the forth estate of realms.

CJPAN's President and  Workaholics Publisher of Islander Magazine/online, Mr.Olarewaju  Mohammed  noted that the cleaning  exercise is  a laudable environmental sanitation event, doubles as the Corporate Social Responsibility of the association  in order  to give back to the society.

He maintained that  If our  environment is cleaned enough it will definitely reduces unwanted diseases in our community and society as it will saves us from whatever epidemics which might be ravaging the world.

The  President of the Association, Alhaji Olarewaju Mohammed also  revealed that the exercise  to clean up Lagos and its environ, is the Association's quarterly event and asking corporate organizations to partner with CJPAN.

 CJPAN is out to support in cleaning of the environment from one Local government to another during environmental activities/exercise and its promises to be a continuous exercise.He added

Meanwhile, The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) who supported the maiden edition threw their weight behind the 2nd edition as their truck arrived the venue in time in making sure that the exercise recorded a huge success.

It would be recalled that the maiden edition  took place at Agege Local government last year and  the exercise will transverse all the local governments  in the state.
